Cayenne is best known as a spice that is used to bring up the heat in spicy foods. As the popularity of herbal supplements grows, cayenne has been appearing more often in weight loss aids. Studies have shown it may help the body burn fat and reduce appetite.
The active compound in cayenne is a substance called capsaicin. It has long been know to relieve pain and itching when applied topically by disabling the pain neurotransmittors. It also promotes digestive and heart health and is high in antioxidents.
