Here is a very simple safe weight reduction tip that really works and is enjoyable.

1) Before every meal take an 8 oz glass of water and add to the juice from one half of a fresh squeezed lemon. If a fresh lemon is not available about two tablespoons of lemon juice concentrate will do.

2) Add a small amount of stevia to taste. Stevia is a natural sweetener that is actually good for you. Stevia can be purchased from just about any health food store. Although it is a little pricey, it last a long time.

It also has zero calories. Stevia also has been known to reduce the formation of plaque on your teeth. You can also use stevia as a sugar substitute in just about anything, and this alone will save a bunch of calories. (more…)

According to National Health Statistics 60% of the population is overweight and 20% of our children and adolescents are overweight with numbers increasing. The World Health Organisation has declared obesity a “global epidemic” (Australia’s Health 2004).

Overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater. Obesity is classified as a BMI of 30 or greater. To determine your BMI, calculate your weight in kg divided by your (height in metres)2. A healthy BMI is between 20 and 25. Excess weight is very unhealthy. Even being slightly overweight can carry moderate health risks. The top three killers are heart disease, cancer and diabetes which are all related to obesity and poor nutrition.
